The world seen through the eyes of a child only seems to be naive. As in a lens, the child’s dreams, hopes and anxieties are gathered there.
In June 1999 the Gallery of Child’s Art “Magic Pencil” at the City Art Gallery was established. The gallery deals with supporting and popularizing the artistic activity of children.
The Gallery of Child’s Art offers collective exhibitions: the artistic output of the most interesting, best-managed artistic studios at schools and clubs, thematic exhibitions and the exhibitions of the laureates of artistic competitions. Each year children take part in a competition for the most beautiful card as well as in a competition propagating knowledge on the rites of own land- “Polish traditions and rites”. The exhibitions are organized and open on the same basis as other exhibitions of the City Art Gallery. The visitors eagerly ask for the programme of “Magic Pencil”. The Gallery of Child’s Art also participates in organizing the artistic workshops for children- “The world of art”, the participants of which become acquainted with new artistic techniques and forms.
