Triennial of Painting of Young Artists-
the Marian Michalik call
The young persons’ painting triennial- a Competition for Young Painters belongs to the usual activities of the City Art Gallery. Its aim is to appreciate and promote traditional artistic disciplines such as painting when the domination of modern means of expression is omnipresent.
Marian Michalik, the prematurely died artist of Czestochowa who practiced easel painting and created mysterious worlds built out of common everyday objects, became the patron of the competition. The patron was chosen because of the place where the exhibition was organized. He meant a lot to it and he supported his younger friends. He is also the first painter from the artistic environment of Częstochowa who developed his artistic career. The advantages of his style are supposed to mark out the direction of the defence of best values in painting.
There have been already two editions of the competition. The positive effect of the competitions revealed in many interesting works of young generation painters may be observed. Its laureates- Grażyna Smalej, Elżbieta Kapusta, Arkadiusz Zając, Wojtek Kubiak, Łukasz Huculak-take an active part in our cultural life, are appreciable and positively reviewed.
